The “recovery” phase of the USB drive’s rescue job took over a week to complete. The results are mixed – the directory structure is all over the place & some stuff is missing, for sure. I can’t be sure how much, yet. Some old e-mails are either gone or astray in the recovered data. Some images have probably gone, too – how many will become apparent in time. Meanwhile, I’m busy replicating LightRoom’s catalogue structure, in preparation for copying the data back.
This isn’t going to be a quick job. The catalogue had lots of directories, many of which are missing from the recovered data, or in a different location. Many of the files are there, but scattered about. There’s going to be a big rethink about security & data retention in future, I think. There’s a lot of junk I can jettison, that’s for sure.
